Artist Statement Submitted 2018One of the joys of being an artist is having the freedom to follow my passion. That freedom has recently brought us to Charleston. I have become passionate about trying to capture the essence of Charleston as it is today, whether it’s painting iconic scenes or historic and charming architecture.
The Lowcountry, and its abundant birdlife, provides me with tremendous inspiration for my aviary art. Photographing and painting wading and shorebirds is also a passion of mine.
I have been a Maritime artist for years and eventually my body of work will include recording the remaining shrimp boats in the Charleston area.
All are subjects vying for my time at the easel. I aspire to infuse my paintings with the magic of the Lowcountry!
I consider myself a realist who employs Impressionist techniques in order to create my own style and produce a painterly work.
