Artist Statement Submitted 2016
My work is about loss. Non-precious materials like wood, cardboard, and plastic match the fragility, hope, and ultimate failure of the human body. Mechanisms that won’t outlast me are cobbled together to create an experience for the viewer, just for a short while, like the human body granting the experience of life with all of its sensitivity, silliness, and sadness. My work lives for a certain amount of time, stains your brain for a moment, and is wiped from the earth, leaving only scraps and memories.
