Artist Statement Submitted 2014

I am an installation artist. The scale and colors are very important component in my work. I use color as a language; I want pure color to exist free from reference, and to have color itself becomes the subject matter. My usage of materials differs vastly throughout my work. 2000 to 2005, the work became three dimensional and sculptural with minimal colors; incorporating electrical lights (LED, fluorescent and neon), and Plexiglas. From 2007, my work turned to a big scale installations. I conceptualize my installations as part of space that could be modular; example of “Spectrum I” and “Spectrum II” are created to be infinite in size, that can be rearranged, adapt or grow in scale to the space.
