Artist Statement Submitted 2019
I am best known as a narrative artist and my work explores the relationship between critical theory and emotional relationships. I am a graduate of the University of California at San Bernardino. After retiring from a successful career in education, I moved in 1995 to Georgia to continue my art. My style of painting is a form of abstraction using oil on canvas that I have named Plastic Space which was inspired by Pablo Picasso and cubism. I work to achieve an impact on the viewer using color and movement in my compositions with various cultural influences. I keep a focus on world events, history, research and environment to explore ideas and produce statements within my art. My entry painting “Promises” is an example of figurative abstraction that is thought provoking.
