Artist Statement Submitted 2019
My work thrives in a collaborative laboratory that interrogates the infinite challenges of human co-existence. I am obsessed with our perceptions of what we are alone vs. what we are together. In my work, I try to reassess these views, offering other frequencies to communicate in. I do this by having dialogue with places and people, then I transpose these conversations into living sculpture and installations. Drawing on what I've experienced as essential ingredients of family- adventure, complexity, ritual and loss-I invite the public doors into alternate homes. My intention is to offer a lens of the expanding universe inside us, to find our explicit nature before being told what we are. Through this liberation I invite you to become a collaborator, and family. My work is a rigorously crafted group experience asking how far can we go together in a world that feels like it's wrestling us apart.
