Artist Statement Submitted 2016The seeds of this body of work are planted in the soil of the philosophy of sculptor Richard Hunt who said:
“…it is my intention to develop the kind of forms Nature might create
if only heat and steel were available to her.”
My work evolves from the stiff, rigid, industrial I-beam, an icon of the Industrial Age, and now an icon of the tragedy on 9/11. I have discovered the breath within the beams, the toughness and rigidity of the beams evolves into the intertwining of Mother Nature and the human spirit, celebrating the union of lovers, the bonds of family or the power and strength of community, which blossom from within.
