Artist Statement Submitted 2017
My work deals with trying to find the meaning in the objects around me, both mundane and precious, but often overlooked. These simple objects and/or the routines surrounding them often allow our lives to have an order...to make sense. I have centered my investigations on memories of routines and objects of people and places close to me. Keeping them in a strictly domestic setting, where guards are let down and habits are allowed to run wild. I attempt to make sense of the power of these domestic objects by bringing awareness to them. I do this, not through invoking their absence, but by abstracting their presence, often through the use of the multiple and repetition.
