Artist Statement Submitted 2019
Inspired largely by experiences with my late uncle, a celebrated poet who suffered from Alzheimer’s, I have been working for the past 8 years with ideas of mental and emotional erasure, memory loss and misremembering, through the upending of cinematic and musical conventions. While often occupying the form of short linear videos, these ideas also comfortably occupy sound installation, performance, sculpture, and combinations thereof.
