Artist Statement Submitted 2015Fine contemporary modern imagery created using the techniques and methods of Dutch/Flemish masters.
I am a big believer of painting what is inspiring, not what is popular. Artists are heavily encouraged to create a body of work that is similar because galleries think that sells best. Artists are expected to believe this is the way to "get a name" and achieve success. I am a self representing artist who paints what I want, regardless of the outcome. Being a self-representing artist has its ups and downs, however, it allows me to fit my own mold and create works that inspire, ME, every time.
As you may imagine, the reward of someone purchasing my work is all the more powerful because I know each purchase is unique because the buyer has made a connection with that specific piece, not a person or a collection.
