Artist Statement Submitted 2015

The materials I use are found in the Charleston area, discarded in the streets and other public areas. I re-purpose these items as focal points in my sculptural compositions, giving them new meaning as the viewer tries to place the objects or recall what they may have been used for in their previous lives. If I have succeed as an artist the viewer forgets what these objects were and instead sees them in a new light, as a whole creative expression instead of many separate parts.

In the same way my collaborative installation work aims to transform a space into an experience the viewer can immerse themselves in. The actual walls can disappear and only the space that was created remains.
