Artist Statement Submitted 2019My art aims to examine and investigate Bent Mountain, Virginia, a small rural community in the Blue Ridge Mountains where I grew up.
I want my art to show the respect and love I have for nature and to highlight the changes, which have occurred to this place during my life time.
Emphasizing what may disappear questions the transitional aspect of what we really experience in nature . What does it mean to love and identify with a place, to call it home, and to watch it change. This has become even more important to me as I have seen my beloved community invaded and bulldozed for a huge Fracked gas Pipeline. My new work explores the destruction of documented Explosions of fracked Gas Pipelines across the country, painted on the logos of the corporations responsible for them.
