Artist Statement Submitted 2014

I am the art of the new south.

My style is aligned with "outsider art" with a folk and primitive influence. After completing a formal art education in New York ( Pratt Institute-B.F.A 1973), I took a 30 yr sabbatical and dove into the all encompassing world of motherhood. Volunteerism and running a family business completely occupied my days until 2001. The window of opportunity reappeared at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa, where my passion for creating art was reignited.

The last 13 yrs I have refined my style, won many awards, and I am presently showing at a gallery in Myrtle Beach. I hope to inspire those have walked away from their passion and to share my enthusiasm and love for art.

The new south is a melting pot of peoples from all destinations. Enclosed are 10 examples portraying the varieties of the human spirit.
