Artist Statement Submitted 2014My current body of work explores personal ties to earth, land, commonplace items and industrial materials associated with the concept of home or home construction, while also taking into account the transient nature of contemporary society, migration and the plight of displaced persons. Studio residue, broken bits, collage pieces of older works and discarded objects make their way into my works. The objects I employ often speak to their own history or their own demise, marred by overuse and those who have used them, it is an attempt to open a dialogue between time, place, the past and present, as well as man versus nature.
unconventional materials provide clues as to a city's inhabitants and transcend boundaries between drawing, painting, sculpture and installation. I seldom exhibit my work in the same manner since I never consider a piece finished, but rather, a constantly evolving thing always reacting to its immediate surroundings.
