Artist Statement Submitted 2017

To be a part of a culture that has been picked apart and rebuilt countless times means there is no exact way to define what it means to be an African American. Through the creation of shoes, maps, installation and sound I express the journey I am on to finding my identity as an African and Native American. Although most of my work is focused on the history of Blacks in America, my primary concern as an artist is to address the social, political and economic inequalities of all cultures in our world today.
