Artist Statement Submitted 2017

Creaky old buildings and the textures of peeling paint, worn wood and faded wall paper have always fascinated me. These are not places that time has forgotten, but is a frequent visitor, wearing away corners, fading colors and softening ceilings in cob webs. Photographing these places capture the look, feel and color of a place and things left behind or found inside before it changes or is completely gone. These photos were taken in The Hotel Pines in downtown Pine Bluff, Ark., as part of a group documentary project with other fine art photographers, capturing the decline of the old hotel built in 1913.
