Andie Paradis Freeman’s work engages traditional realism and contemporary abstraction to evoke a space in time that is frozen and dreamlike. Her paintings feature cherished and natural objects, hanging and moving in a fantastical setting as if the viewer just missed meeting the users. Still life is used as a tool for narrative, giving a glimpse of a life lived by using mundane artifacts combined with the richness of nature. We live in a disposable world that makes us critical of ourselves, and others, as we reach for the next object to fill the void of human interaction. In this time of rapidly changing lifestyles, the art reflects the importance to explore what it means to be human, through daily rituals and interaction with nature. Freeman currently creates in Raleigh, NC. She earned her BFA from College of Charleston and a graphic design degree from Miami Ad School, Atlanta.
