Artist Statement Submitted 2019

My practice of art making begins by investigating connections. My research interests include; physics, philosophy, psychology, astronomy, myth, magic, music and poetry. The formal departure, from this investigation, uses the mediums of photography, sculpture, installation, language, video, performance and sound.

I believe we exist in an Age of Empathy, past the Age of Faith and Age of Reason. All of our activity is one of embodied experience – the participation with another cannot be detached – it is transactional.

Sound, I believe moves beyond the memetic into the transactional. "As pointed out by Jean-Luc Nancy, if the visual is generally mimetic, the sonorous is tendentially methexic; that is, it has to do with participation, sharing, or contagion.” Sound and vibration are the research paths I am most interested in, at this time.
