Artist Statement Submitted 2014
As early as I remember, I drew. Drawings flowed from my imagination, released by the desire to capture the world around me. In Elementary school, I drew portraits of George Washington, Abe Lincoln and my mother. I knew I had a wonderful gift.Throughout my life, I have been emotionally moved by great art. I have seen renown paintings in museums: the Chicago Art Institute, the New York Metropolitan, the Boston Fine Art Museum, Musee d’Orsay, Musee du Louvre, the Sistine Chapel, the Kimball Art Museum, the Uffizi, Cappelle Medicee, Museo Del Bargello, Palatine Gallery and Galleria dell’ Academia - so much beauty, so much talent and worlds of inspiration. When I viewed these great works, a voice inside said “you can do that.”
In 2008, I retired from a career in Capital Project Management to follow that voice. I am on an ART expressway, catching up for lost years.
