Artist Statement Submitted 2015

"I pick up a stone that has been staring at the sun for thousands of years, or a tree torn from the cedarbank set drifting. I’m drifting and floating and looking down to the ground. To me it’s the same as looking into space, the small universe. The stones have been held before, a simple scraping tool and polishing round. The driftwood has been eaten by the fish and river leaving the heartwood turning silver in the sun. Nature gives up it’s bounty and piles it at my house. Where they become stars and streaks of light in my sculptures.“
