Artist Statement Submitted 2018Since childhood I have found joy, frustration and completion in making marks, using colors and simply playing in paint. It is a compulsion that constantly nags at me if I so much as skip a day.
My images have always been of people, their relationships and how I can explain that in the elements of art. The last five years have included a series of dancing women whose relationships reflect our universal community of women, sometimes working in harmony, sometimes in an agitated energy.
Color and pattern simply make me happy, and I have reached that point of understanding myself to allow for this pure pleasure.
