Artist Statement Submitted 2017I am a stone sculptor. I work by hand, primarily in white marble and black marble, and occasionally in other stones such as calcite and jade.
In the past 150 years art has obviously undergone a major deconstruction and examination. All the traditional attributes of an artwork (beauty, craft, meaning, etc) have been teased apart and critiqued. I feel it is my job to re-integrate everything, to put it all back together into works that dwell within the new conceptual realms established through modernism and post-modernism (Dadaism, Pop Art, etc), yet respect and continue the ancient traditions of stone sculpture.
