Artist Statement Submitted 2015
My artwork is a medium for the communication of abstract ideas using representational imagery. One of my largest influences is the relationship of the tangible to the intangible. My photographic work expresses this idea through its process and materials. Traditional photography is a detached method of making art in the sense that once the picture is taken it is pretty much finished. I initially use digital manipulation to blend my photographs into one piece and select only a few images that work formally. The photographs are printed on inkjet paper and then transferred onto transparent sheets. The transfer process adds texture from personal mark-making. I explore the relationship between the digital and the physical world through the process of creating these images.
