Chapter 1 of the Sugar Mill Sessions, a larger body of work which explores the gulf coast sugar industry, deals with the Planting Season. These images are approached with a 19th century aesthetic an encased in encaustic. The process was chosen to represent the idea that the act of planting sugar cane has not evolved much since the 19th century and in most cases is still done by hand.
