My work is simply about people. I use portraiture and figures in a hybrid visual language to reveal the relationship I have with the world in which I live. The works feel familiar, yet distinctively different than “traditional works of art”. The images of African American people are often coupled with simply worded messages, intended to start a dialogue, yet open to interpretation. My paintings are visual commentary to both past and current events. I use paint, collage, and drawing to visually narrate stories of people, preserving them for future generations.
