Artist Statement Submitted 2018The underlying basis of my work is an exploration of materials. Found and recycled objects are my primary media. I work with metal, fabric, thread, paint, wood, fabric, paper, vintage photographs, wire, and a wide variety of other materials.
The Museum of Wonder is a small museum that I built inside and around a vintage barn that’s located on my property in rural Alabama. My workshop/studio is located there. In the museum, I display many kind of “artifacts” and “oddities,” including various animal bones, fossils, and examples of taxidermy, all of which I manipulate to a greater or lesser extent before they are added to the collection. Intermingled with these exhibits are my paintings, assemblages, sculptures, and other creative work which I offer for sale there.
