Artist Statement Submitted 2015My work has consistently been sculptural until this year, when I began making small scale, hand cut collages to be made into large format pigment prints. The imagery in both my sculpture and collage are of the same language.
The collages are visually frenetic, and depict contemporary issues through the combination of vintage images. My sculptures consist of various materials hand sewn to a copper rod armature. The "skin" of each piece is often vintage paper.
Exploitation of animals and natural resources to meet man's needs is a consistent concept that is present in most of my work. My aim is to capture the essence of an issue, and create a piece that is visually intriguing.
(Note: The five collage pieces shown here are part of a twelve print series titled Blue Go-Go).
