Artist Statement Submitted 2015I think my work currently could best be described as expressive abstract. My thesis will examine my work as one body that is subdivided into two areas: “Christmas Island” and “Marriage Number One”. My materials are sketchbooks, regular paper and watercolor, in addition to graphite and watercolor pencils, conte crayons, charcoal, pastels, Indian ink, oil pastels and gesso (black & white). My chosen materials are an emerging vocabulary I use to talk about my memories. I take on the responsibility of interpreting my father’s memories through “rage-paintings”.
