Artist Statement Submitted 2019My art is a reflection of my relationship with nature. Discovery and inspiration comes to me on walks, while I work in my garden, or appear as gifts from friends who share my passion for the beauty inherent in Nature. Specifically, it is the metamorphosis of natural forms as they change from season to season that draws me in. I am fascinated by the universality in differing life forms that share similar qualities.
Natural objects make their way into my studio and serve as the source for clay sculptures. Over time the compilation of these sculptural pieces have become an installation called, Walk Remembered. My use of white acts as a unifying factor for these differing forms and is also a constant reminder of the interconnectedness of all things. The resulting work has come together as a collection of memory pieces, not unlike a journal.
